Just as a woman’s heart knows how and when to pump, her lungs to inhale, and her hand to pull back from fire, so she knows when and how to give birth.

Bio

Hi, I’m Dominique!

I am a full spectrum doula, childbirth educator, real estate professional, wife, and mother of 2. I live with my family in Dana Point, CA and identify as a cisgender woman.

I have facilitated and participated in support groups through Empowered Postpartum, a non-profit virtual support group, for over 2 years. I know first hand how crucial support is during the early days of postpartum. I received my certifications through Birthing Advocacy Doula Training Program and Hypnobabies.

How I found birth work

One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life was hiring a doula when I found out I was pregnant. She prepared me for all the stages of motherhood, from pregnancy to postpartum. Thank goodness for all her guidance because I had my daughter Zoë on March 17, 2020. Covid-19 had shut down the hospital and changed my birth plan. I’m so thankful my husband was able to be by my side and my doula was on the phone rooting me on. I successfully had an unmedicated vaginal labor, but the hospital experience was traumatizing.

6 months later I found out I was pregnant with my second child and I knew I wanted a home birth. I found an amazing midwife who I felt a strong bond with and who supported my values . I know her guidance and knowledge throughout my pregnancy allowed me to feel confident through my birthing. I had no fear! On September 1, 2021, I welcomed my son Kai in a birthing pool in my living room.

2 births, 2 different settings, but both delivered vaginally and unmedicated. I realized after replaying through both of my birth stories the underlying theme was SUPPORT! The support of my doula (even virtually) gave me the confidence to advocate for myself in a hospital setting. The support of my midwife allowed me to release all my fears of birthing and create a safe space for my son to make his way into my arms. My goal is to instill confidence in my clients so that on your birthing day you can birth without fear even at the sight of complications. This will require breath preparation, meditation, and creating a solid support system.

I look forward to working with you!
